First school zone safety camera installed at Court Grammar School

Whole School

Western Australia’s first school zone safety camera has been installed on Soldiers Road, outside Court Grammar School in Mundijong.

The site was chosen because Soldiers Road is an 80 km/h road. A speed assessment found that 80 per cent of drivers were travelling above the 40 km/h school zone limit during school hours.

The relocatable camera detects drivers exceeding 40 km/h in the school zone during school terms, from 7:30am to 9:00am and from 2:30pm to 4:00pm. It is the first of 20 school zone cameras planned across the State over the next two years.

The announcement was made by Road Safety Minister Reece Whitby and Road Safety Commissioner Adrian Warner, joined by the Local Member Hugh Jones and School representatives.
